We are delighted to announce our next session of Praying Together in Jerusalem in the form of a webinar, held in conjunction with the Parliament of Religions, in advance of the upcoming Parliament meeting in Chicago in August. Climate Change is one of the major topics the Parliament is committed to advancing and the Parliament has invited the Elijah Board of World Religious Leaders to perform the climate repentance ceremony, first performed last November, in parallel with COP 27.

The upcoming webinar will introduce the notion of "climate repentance". Participants in the panel are religious leaders who were active in the November 2022 ceremony, that was held in London. An interactive panel discussion will explore the notion of climate repentance and its relation to climate work.

Participants include:

  • Rabbi Jonathan Wittenberg, Head of Masorti movement, UK (Jewish)
  • Canon Ruth Valerio, Global Advocacy and Influencing Director, Tearfund.org (Christian)
  • Anuttama Das, (Hindu)
  • Special Contribution: Dr. Maria-Reis Habito, Museum of World Religions, Taiwan (Buddhist)

Moderator: Rabbi Alon Goshen-Gottstein, the Elijah Interfaith Institute, Jerusalem

The webinar will take place in partnership with the Elijah Interfaith's monthly gathering "Praying Together in Jerusalem". Following the conversation on climate repentance, prayers will be offered by leaders and members of religious communities of Jerusalem.

Webinar will take place on Sunday, July 2nd, 11 am Chicago time, 5 pm UK time, 7 pm Israel time
Estimated total time - 75 minutes
