Greetings for 2025 from the ICCJ President Rabbi Dr David Fox Sandmel

A popular children's Chanukah song begins with these words: "We have come to dispel the darkness, in our hands are light and flame. Each individual is a small light, but together we are shining beacon." That is how I see the work to which we are committed: each of us in our own way bringing the light of learning, understanding, and "holy envy" to a world that desperately needs it.
While global interreligious harmony is still a distant dream, what has been accomplished so far demonstrates that the change we seek is possible.

Suffering and Hope

Reflections in a Time of Wars, Enmities, and Seasons of Festivals of Light offered by members of ICCJ's Theology Committee
In one of our monthly Zoom meetings of the Theology Committee of the International Council of Christians and Jews, the conversation focused on the tragedies continuing to unfold around the world. We asked ourselves, how can we celebrate the forthcoming feasts of Hanukkah and Christmas in the midst of such global suffering? That led each of us to offer these reflections from our respective Jewish and Christian perspectives, entitled, “Suffering and Hope: Reflections in a time of Wars, Enmities and Seasons of Festivals of Light.”

Catholics and Jews discuss Ten Commandments in Rome

2024, November 8 - The Pontifical University of the Holy Cross holds a multi-day course dedicated to the Christian and Jewish perspectives on the Ten Commandments, seeking to foster a deeper understanding of shared values.
The course "One Revelation and Two Traditions: The Ten Commandments and Their Jewish and Christian Interpretations" was a collaborative effort between the Pontifical University of the Holy Cross in Rome and the Isaac Abarbanel University Institute in Buenos Aires. It ran from October 28 to November 7 at the papal university.
